Understanding the Character System
DragonSword: Awakening uses a unique tag-team combat system built around three heroes rather than a single character. Here's what you need to know:
Combat Flow
- Apply Status Ailments — Each hero applies their primary status effect through attacks
- Trigger Signal Skills — When compatible ailments stack on an enemy, powerful Signal Skills activate
- Switch Heroes — Tag out at the right moment to trigger Switching Signals
- Chain Combos — Continue the combo chain for massive damage, control, or Break pressure
Team Building Principle
A well-synergized team of B-tier heroes will outperform a group of S-tier heroes with poor ailment synergy. Focus on covering multiple status types and creating combo chains.
How to Unlock Heroes
- Story / Progress — 8 heroes unlock naturally through the main story and Hero Quests
- Exchange Shop — 11 heroes cost 1 Fate's Invitation each, obtainable through gameplay
- No Gacha — There is no random character draw system. Every hero is earnable
